The Drome
Sound Lesson Program has been in existence and serving the
tri-city area for over three decades. Our newly remodeled
teaching facility is now conveniently located at the same
address as our store, 1875 State Street, Schenectady, NY.
Drome Sound
offers lessons in drums, percussion, guitar, bass, piano,
saxophone, violin, banjo and more.
Our instructors provide study in a
variety of different styles; from the heaviest of Metal to the
subtle nuance of Classical and Jazz, we can accommodate
virtually any level of proficiency a student may possess.
Our teachers are also professional
musicians, some performing all over the world. Their
experience in teaching, education and performance spans
decades.

Ed Munger{Guitar} - Renowned classical guitaristand head guitar instructor
for over 25 years. Ed has Studied & Performed with some of the premier players
of our time
Ray Jung{Bass}– Ray was trained at Berklee College in Boston. Popular area
bassist who has played and studied with a virtual who’s who of the music
industry. Taught at National Guitar Workshop seminars. Adjunct Faculty at Union
College. Involved in worship ministry at Calvary Tabernacle.
Jason Bittner {Drums}–
Grammy Nominated Drummer for the band Shadows Fall. One of the hottest Drummer
in the world and voted #1 in Modern Drummer in the "Up and Coming" category in
2004 and in 2005 for "Best Recorded Performance.
Justin Godlewski {Woodwinds}
- Bachelor's degree in music education from the college of St. Rose, principle
saxophonist of the college’s wind ensemble for four semesters as well as a
member of the jazz ensemble where he was given the opportunity to solo for jazz
great Billy Taylor. Justin has studied with Paul Evoskevich at St. Rose, Paul
Couch and had the privilege of a lesson with Bob Mintzer. Additionally, Justin
also serves as the current director of the Rotterdam Town Jazz Band and woodwind
director with the Mohonasen Marching Band.
Pam
Reynolds {Piano & Organ}
– since age 11 has performed as a church organist and has since become 1 of the
areas top church directors. A Graduate of Schenectady Community College. Passion
& knowledge for various musical styles has made her one of our most sought
after teachers.
Jim Mattrazzo {Guitar} -
or "Shredder Jim" has been playing and teaching guitar for over the past 20
years both as a soloist, (classical guitar) and in several bands ranging in
style from top 40, to heavy metal/shred. Jim has studied at Berklee College of
Music, classical guitar with Ray Andrews ( SCCC ) and Joel Brown (Skidmore
College) and Flamenco guitar with Dennis Koster at American Institute of Guitar
in Manhattan. Jim teaches multiple styles, but specializes in Rock, Metal, and
Shred.
Dan Bobeck {Percussion} -
has been performing behind the drum kit for over 30 years. He has worked with
many of the best local musicians and bands over the years and shared the stage
with many national acts primarily on the east coast of the U.S. Pop, Rock,
Reggae, Latin, Funk, Fusion, are some of the many styles he has covered over the
years. Dan studied music theory and percussion at Fredonia state university.
Mike Smith
{Drums} - has been
playing drums for over 30 years. He is a graduate of Bishop Maginn High School
and Siena College, and has studied under big band drummers George Page, Phillip
Foote, and Music Professor Peter Haley. Mike was the drum instructor for years
at The Only Guitar Shop in Clifton Park NY before coming to Drome Sound. Mike is
also the drum salesman at Drome Sound, a position he previously held at Mars
Music and The Only Guitar Shop.Mike has performed and recorded with many bands
over the years and received radio airplay with the original band “LIVIN' EDGE”,
and currently tours with the hard rock band “BRITISH STEEL”.
Mike Morgan {Guitar}
- Specializes in Rock, Blues, and R & B. Mike has 30 Years of Professional
Performance Experience and 20 Years of teaching experience.
Paul
Quigley {Guitar} -
Received a Bachelor of music and a Masters from the Manhattan
school of music. 20 years or teaching students from the age of 5 to 70, with
musical styles from rock to classical. Paul performs currently in Nite Train
and High VoltageHorns.
Jake Hackel {Guitar}
Taught by some of the best players in the area
such as Sten Isachsen and Jack Fragomeni, since he was 14. He is
experienced on stage, in the studio, and in teaching. Graduated from
Schenectady Community College, he studied styles such as classical, blues
and jazz and is continuing his music education at the college of St. Rose.
You can find Jake playing at venues from Albany or Troy to Lake George and
beyond. He is also the music coordinator and worship leader at Waterford
Wesleyan Church.
Keith
Warren {Guitar}
- Received Artist Award from Berklee College of Music and a bachelor in Music
from College of St. Rose. Keith has had a relaxed and enjoyable approach to
teaching music since 1969.
